One of my favorite activities for 8 months of the year is riding a dirt bike through the woods in northern New England. Being from southern Maine, I enjoy riding in my own surrounding towns, but I also enjoy loading up the bikes with buddies and heading out to places like Clough Park in New Hampshire.

Is there a better way to spend $200 than on a hot air balloon ride? I’ve considered this for a moment and the answer is no, no you can not. One can argue that $200 could be better spent on a motorized scooter, playoff tickets, a cheap pair of Gucci shoes, 800 gum balls; but all of these are in fact, not better than floating above the ground in a giant balloon.

I can almost bet that you have never seen a view quite like one from Mt. Agamenticus in Southern Maine. I’ve been on my fair share of hikes, and never have I seen a view of the ocean on any mountain summit in the New England.

There is a reason why tourists don’t typically flock to Southern Maine during the Fall or Spring. If there’s no snow for winter sports, yet too cold to sun bathe at the beach, why go to Maine, right? Wrong!

In a previous post, I mentioned the Maine Bound Adventure Center indoor rock wall at the University of Maine. This is a great avenue for doing outdoor activities with Maine guides through the university since Maine Bound takes groups to outings and vacations for crazy cheap!

Often you’ll find paddle board lessons for $75 ($100 private lessons) with $15 for an hour rental. Maine Bound takes paddle board groups to the Stillwater River for $15 for non-members, with $50 lessons.
