Indian’s Last Leap, also casually called “the Leap” by Sanford-Springvale locals, is both a place for outdoor recreation and a story.  As a location, Indian’s last leap is a small cliff area along the Mousam River in Springvale, Maine near Springvale’s Recreational Area. As a story, however, according to some, has historical basis.

Seacoast Snow Park, the winter version of Seacoast Fun Park opens today, December 26. YES! There’s a few public sledding areas, but snow park has one of the best snow tubing around.

In a previous post, I mentioned the Maine Bound Adventure Center indoor rock wall at the University of Maine. This is a great avenue for doing outdoor activities with Maine guides through the university since Maine Bound takes groups to outings and vacations for crazy cheap!

Often you’ll find paddle board lessons for $75 ($100 private lessons) with $15 for an hour rental. Maine Bound takes paddle board groups to the Stillwater River for $15 for non-members, with $50 lessons.

When I was little, one of my favorite places to go was the roller skating rink in Southern Maine. Unfortunately, it closed down in my town, but there are still a few roller skating rinks in the Southern Maine area.

While it is becoming less common to see people roller skating and more common to see people biking and skateboarding  on the side of the road here in Southern Maine, roller skating is still always popular with the kids. I used to to go the Happy Wheels Skate Center with friends back in high school pretty often during the school year since it was cheap and it was a fun alternative to the bar scene at the Old Port.
